Our corporate venture capital group worked with Rick to produce a series of videos that highlighted some of our portfolio companies. Of all of the video producers that I have worked with over the years, working with Rick was one of the more pleasant experiences. He understood what we needed, was flexible and best of all he took care of all the details. The videos were outstanding, so much so that we received accolades from our Japanese and European colleagues. If you need videos or other film projects, go talk to Rick first.

There’s No Substitute for Experience
As you know, too often out of town clients come and go and you never get much feedback from the work you’ve done. Well let me just tell you as I sit here editing the footage from New York, Boston, Washington DC, and San Francisco–I have to say nobody else holds a candle to you! All of the interviews you shot look fantastic! It’s incredible how much nicer the lighting and composition looks. Thanks again!

Meet Rick
A 25 Year Veteran of Network and High-End Corporate Productions
I’m a working DP / Lighting Cameraman with over 25 years experience in the NW film and TV market. Currently based out of Bozeman, Montana, my production business, Detour Pictures also provides soup-to-nuts video production services. I graduated with a B.S. in Motion Picture Production from Montana State University, and also studied broadcasting at the University of Idaho.
I’m comfortable lighting large studios (such as Seattle Grip and Lighting, Pacific Grip & Lighting, Microsoft Studios, The Victory Studios), as well as managing smaller projects on location. I especially love the lighting process and have been a Lighting Director / Lighting Cameraman on many infomercials and countless executive interviews in the Fortune 500 sector.
I have recently helped national, corporate clients like Wells-Fargo Bank, Chase Mortgage Bank, and Cummins Diesel. For more information about my past clients, see a collection of my production still in the gallery at the bottom of this page.
While shooting for Univision TV, I was flattered when soccer legend, David Beckham, went out of his way to shake my hand, for the attention to detail on his interview lighting. At the time, I didn’t even know who I was filming; which of course, became a bit humorous for the rest of the production crew.
I look forward to working with you on your next project.
Truly,
Rick
There’s No Substitute for Experience
Before Bozeman, most of my 25+ years of experience was in the Seattle film & TV market as a DP, Lighting Cameraman or Lighting Director for events like Disney on Ice. The time I've spent on a wide variety of projects has drilled one lesson into my mind — make it right!
